What is the best way to get to trip start location? By what time do I have to arrive?
You'll want to arrive in Dubrovnik, Croatia and take a ferry to Sipanska Luka (only about one hour from Dubrovnik by ferry) where you'll be greeted by a representative from Huck Finn.
Ferries depart from Dubrovnik Port at 10:00 am, 2:00 pm, 4:30 pm and 8:00 pm on Saturdays. Depending on your arrival time, you'll be boarding one of those ferries. Please make sure you land by 4:00 pm to Dubrovnik airport in order to catch the ferry in time and reach the island according to schedule. Late arrivals might cause extra expenses for accommodations on the mainland.
What are the accommodations like?
Huck Finn uses traditional stone houses that meet 3-star standards. Houses in Sipan Island are modernly furnished and recently renovated with ensuite bathrooms and air conditioning. Double rooms and double/triple studios are available. Accommodations are by the sea or an easy three minute walk away.
Can solo travelers get their own room? Is there a single supplement fee?
Solo travelers or the odd-numbered person in your group will need to pay a single supplement fee. Please contact our Adventures Team for pricing and availability.
What is the food like? What if I'm a vegetarian?
Excellent local and private restaurants will be available during lunch and dinner, and guides will be happy to give suggestions. If for any reason you can’t or don’t want to eat specialties on the menu for that evening, alternatives can be made. If given prior notice, Huck Finn can also provide vegetarian and gluten-free meals. If you require gluten-free meals, it is recommended that you bring a few favorite snacks as options on the islands will be limited. Lunches are picnic-style allowing for flexibility along the route. You'll also be able to buy lunch packages from the local shops.
How active is this trip? Do you have more information on the activities?
All the activities are moderately difficult and are 3 to 4 hours long (with the exception of day 5 and the Dubrovnik visit). The exact duration and details will be provided to you in the information packet sent to you after booking.
What should people bring? Do you have a packing list?
Try to bring only what is necessary as this will make things easier for both you and the field staff. Required gear for kayaking is provided. Huck Finn Adventure Travel recommends the following gear:
Clothing & footwear
- A few lightweight, casual, easily washable items for travel and daily wear
- Hiking shorts, synthetic
- Trousers for hiking
- T-shirts (at least 1 synthetic)
- Sun hat with brim
- Lightweight rain jacket, waterproof and breathable
- Lightweight hiking shoes or trainers
- Water shoes for kayaking (stiff sole sandals)
- Water bottle or hydration pack
- Sun block and lip balm
- Personal first aid kit (including any medications you use)
- Small backpack
- Insect repellent (spray/stick and wall plug for your room)
- Camera (waterproof), film/memory cards and spare batteries (optional)
- Picnic utensils (optional)
How much extra money should I budget?
The official currency in Croatia is Croatian Kuna (HRK) and all prices are quoted in Kuna. Huck Finn Adventure Travel recommends that you exchange some money into Croatian Kuna before you arrive or at the airport. At some point, ATM machines will be accessible. For spending money (meals, guide tips, optional activities, snacks, and beverages) Huck Finn suggests an allowance of $350 per person for multi-day trips.
Should I purchase travel insurance? If so, do you have a recommended provider?
We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for all trips. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement if you are forced to cancel your trip for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to cover medical help, emergency transport, and/or theft or accidental damage while traveling. Are there special requirements for entry into the destination I am visiting?
We recommend you visit the local government websites where you plan to travel and review the required documentation for entry, current restrictions, and general recommendations for travel within the area. We encourage you to also visit your home country's embassy website if you are traveling to a foreign country. Requirements can change rapidly. Please be sure you stay abreast of the requirements and restrictions for anywhere you plan to visit. You can also enroll in the U.S. government’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) and you will be sent updates if the situation in your destination changes. Can I cancel or modify my trip?
Yes! Book confidently with Free Cancellations within 72 hours of booking. After 72 hours, cancellation fees will apply.

You may postpone or modify your trip up to 60 days prior to departure with no fees or penalties.
You will have the option to:
1) Select a new travel date within two years of your original departure date, or
2) Select a new adventure or destination, or
3) Receive 100% lifetime store credit toward a future trip.
*Please note, when choosing a new date, you must choose a date within the same travel season in 2022 or 2023 to avoid any additional trip costs. If you select a new adventure, you will be responsible for the difference of any additional trip costs above the value of your current trip.
Up to 30 days prior to departure*
You may postpone your trip up to 30 days prior to departure with no fees or penalties.
You will have the option to:
1) Select a new travel date within one of your original departure date, or
2) Receive a lifetime store credit toward a future trip. Standard cancellation fees will apply.
*Please note, when choosing a new date, you must choose a date within the same travel season in 2022 to avoid any additional trip costs. If you choose to cancel, you will receive a lifetime credit, minus cancellation fees, towards a future trip.
