Private departures are available with ten participants and the trip can be customized to suit your needs. Additional costs may apply for private departures. Please contact our Adventures Team to explore pricing and availability.

Plan to fly into Boise, Idaho (BOI) and drive to the trip start location in Riggins, Idaho (3.5 hours north of Boise). Rubicon Outfitters recommends arriving the day before the start of the trip as there is a pre-trip meeting planned at 7:00 pm the night before launch day at Rubicon Outfitters Whitewater Headquarters in Riggins.

Rubicon Outfitters will shuttle you from the takeout location at Heller Bar back to Riggins.

You'll be rafting anywhere between 12-15 miles a day depending on the river flow and the beaches you'll be camping on.

You'll be camping by the river, out under the stars in shared tents. Rubicon Outfitters will provide landing pads, sleeping bags, and tents.

If you are a solo traveler and would like your own tent, you'll need to request this directly with Rubicon Outfitters. There is no extra charge for individual tents requested in advance.

The Salmon River guides pride themselves in their dutch oven cuisine. Steak and salmon feasts along with bountiful breakfasts are the norm with plenty of fresh bread, fruits, and vegetables. A smorgasbord of deli items are served at lunch to satisfy even the most particular eater.

A detailed packing list will be provided to you after booking your trip.

Most things you'll need are included in the trip cost, however, Rubicon recommends you come into town the day before launch day and factor into your budget a night stay on the front and back end of your rafting adventure. They recommend booking at Big Iron Motel or the Riverview Motel in Riggins.

We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for all trips. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement if you are forced to cancel your trip for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to cover medical help, emergency transport, and/or theft or accidental damage while traveling. For travel insurance, we recommend VisitorsCoverage.

We recommend you visit the local government websites where you plan to travel and review the required documentation for entry, current restrictions, and general recommendations for travel within the area. We encourage you to also visit your home country's embassy website if you are traveling to a foreign country. Requirements can change rapidly. Please be sure you stay abreast of the requirements and restrictions for anywhere you plan to visit. You can also enroll in the U.S. government’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) and you will be sent updates if the situation in your destination changes. Up to 60 days prior to departure*
You may postpone or modify your trip up to 60 days prior to departure with no fees or penalties.

You will have the option to:
1) Select a new travel date within one year of your original departure date, or
2) Cancel your trip and receive a 100% lifetime credit.

*Please note, when choosing a new date, you must choose a date within the same travel season in 2022 or 2023 to avoid any additional trip costs.

Up to 30 days prior to departure*
In some cases, you may have the option to postpone your trip up to 30 days prior to departure.

If this is available at the time of your request, you will have the option to:
1) Select a new travel date within one year of your original departure date. Additional trip costs may apply and new dates are subject to availability, or
2) If you choose not to reschedule your trip you may have the option to cancel, but standard cancellation fees will apply.
